“We broadly agree with the conclusions of the report, and generally support increased academic
freedom of expression, particularly in light of the seeds of American-style “cancel culture” being
planted in Norway as noted in Section 6.5.3. This particular threat to academic freedom of expression
is one which we believe must be monitored very closely, as the advent of the internet provides
extremely rapid dissemination of ideas and thus carries the potential to stifle academic freedom of
expression, particularly in the case of controversial ideas.”
